Jaya was found abandoned in an open field and was trapped by a casual feeder who happened to have cat food with her. She opened up a can and Jaya ran up to her without hesitation and just ate a full can within seconds. That’s where the feeder grabbed her and then carried her until she found a box at the nearest recycling bin to put her inside. She brought the cat home and fed her another can of food and she was still asking for more. Once the feeder informed me about Jaya, I took custody of her, hoping to rehome her.
When I first got her, she was covered in flea dirt and was really unkempt with a few matted fur that needed to be shaved off during her sterilisation. In time, I noticed that being abandoned in an open field and her past has scarred her and she has become a very timid cat, specifically really terrified of men. She hisses at everyone she sees but with time, she has opened up to those who took care of her during her spay recovery; the team being mostly women. She still runs and hides whenever she sees men.
I have to be transparent and admit that she did cause injury to her potential adopter who was trying to feed treats to her on her first day at home which is why the adoption was unsuccessful. She now requires an experienced cat owner who is willing to spend the time to let her acclimatise on her own terms and know about cat behaviour and body language. I will help you through this process to ease her into home life. If you would like to know more about her, do reach out to me at [email protected] or @communitycatperson on Instagram.
Adopters must follow CWS guidelines and a house visit and interview will be done before getting to meet her.
