URGENT: [SA15289] Seeking Donations for Community Cat with FIV and Chronic Feline Stomatitis
DJ was a senior community cat from eastern Singapore. He was FIV positive and his FIV status resulted in a compromised immune system which caused chronic feline stomatitis.
DJ was on oral medication to manage his chronic feline stomatitis. However, his stomatitis acted up every four or five months, which caused DJ to be in severe pain and discomfort. When eating, he hit his mouth repeatedly with his paws and was crying in pain. The condition also caused him to salivate excessively. Further, his fur got dirty and matted as he was unable to groom himself properly.
DJ stopped eating completely after approximately a day because it was too painful, and he hid in the drain. Every time this happened, the caregivers hired a trapper to catch him to bring him to the vet. At the vet DJ was given a steroid injection to manage his condition and was boarded overnight to allow the medication to take effect before he was released.
One day DJ was found to be in a weak state and he refused to eat. On the way to the vet DJ passed on. DJ has since been cremated.
The total medical cost incurred was SGD 313.70.
The caregiver is appealing for donations to help defray the cost incurred for DJ, with the appeal amount at SGD 313.70.
We are urgently appealing for donations to help defray the cost incurred for DJ
